Los mayores y el e-commerce

Es muy común escuchar que “la gente mayor no compra online” y me surgió la curiosidad y me puse a indagar si realmente esto es así o es parte de la vieja narrativa de la vejez.

Este es un tema que cobra cada vez más importancia, no tanto por los números actuales (en cuanto a compradores, frecuencia e importe gastado), sino por su proyección exponencial de cara ya a un futuro cercano.

Surge la necesidad urgente de que las empresas aprendan y adapten sus plataformas de venta online a este perfil de consumidor que tiene algunas características distintivas respecto del resto.

Dentro del amplio espectro de la llamada Silver Economy, hay que incluir todos los canales de compra y el online no puede quedarse fuera.

Vamos a empezar poniendo algunos números en perspectiva:

Sabemos que, para poder comprar online, hay que tener acceso a internet y disponer de un dispositivo que nos permita navegar.

Aquí vemos el porcentaje de personas que han utilizado Internet en los últimos meses y compara el año 2007 vs el 2018 para ver como se va reduciendo la llamada “brecha digital”.

Más del 70% de las personas entre 55 y 64 utilizan internet y un 47% de quienes tienen 65 y 74 años.
